I wasn’t completely happy with page 20, so I took some time today to add in some vocalizations for the sal-kin. It’s something I originally wanted to do, but skipped for the sake of getting the new page up. I think it really improves the overall look of the page and is more immersive for the reader.
Pacific giant salamanders do have vocal capabilities and will “bark” when agitated. So this sound effect is meant to be something like a cross between a croak and a bark. I imagine it’s what a large part of their language sounds like, especially the angry words.
In other news, I have next week off the day job. Hopefully I should be able to finish up page 21 then.
Thanks everyone for sticking around and reading the comic!
If you’re looking for a replacement for Project Wonderful to trade or buy ads for your comic project then you might want to give ComicAd Network a shot. I never got a chance to post ads for PW, but I’m going to try out CAN for a while and see how it does. They focus specifically on ads for comics, which I like.
I have placed a couple ad boxes: one in the sidebar and one on the links page. I don’t think they’ll be too intrusive and hopefully you’ll find some interesting comics there soon.
From what I’ve heard, ad revenue in this day of ad blockers is not viable so I don’t expect much from it. ComicAd Network doesn’t seem to be doing anything new, so it probably won’t last too long, but I figure it can’t hurt to try and if it earns me some extra change and some page views then nothing lost.
It would be cool if they come up with some new twist that makes this work and they stick around for a while. Hopefully they realize that just doing the same thing Project Wonderful did isn’t going to work in the long run and they’re brain storming new angles to incorporate. Good luck, CAN!
I just set up a Pacifica mailing list so that people can have site updates delivered to them. I could use some help testing it out and getting feedback. You can use the form on the left or this link to sign up: http://eepurl.com/gncmvL
Subscribing to this list will give you updates whenever I make a new post to the web site which should be no more than once or twice a month. Posts are typically made when a new comic goes up or I have some other Pacifica related news to share. (Such as creating this mailing list.)
Of course the other way to get new comic updates to your mailbox and some other nifty bonuses is to support the comic on Patreon. That will net you larger page images two weeks before the new pages are posted to the site. Other rewards include wallpapers, sketches, and special titles in the Pacifica Discord server. It also brings me one step closer to making Pacifica my daily job, which means more story for everyone!
You can also check out the Support page to find other ways of helping out with the comic. Thank you to everyone for checking Pacifica out.
