Birds, Page 3, You’re Right

"You're right" can be a hard thing to say. Gale is stubborn, but willing to admit when others have a point. She also knows that her brother tends to be sensible.

This page is going up a couple hours early because I'm using a different comic CMS and I need to get used to it.

The CMS came with a new site theme and of course I had to customize it. I'm fairly happy with the look and I hope all of you enjoy it. Of particular note, I think the Legends page looks much better now. Small bugs and rough edges are still popping up here and there. If you happen to stumble across something that seems to be broken drop me a message on Twitter.

Reworked Pages

Since this chapter is about to wrap up I went back and redid the borders in earlier pages to match the one I was using at the end of the chapter so that everything will have a more cohesive appearance when I collect it.

The retouched pages haven’t been uploaded to the site yet, but I did upload them over on Imgur as an experiment. If you’d like to see them head over and check them out.

I’ll hopefully have a couple pages of chapter 2 ready by the end of the month and up on Patreon for patrons.

Finally, as always, thank you to everyone checking out my work!

Thoughts About Setting

I showed some of the art from the comic to someone and one of their first comments was about how they liked that the forest was immediately recognizable as a redwood forest. That definitely feels like a small victory, because it’s not at all accidental or incidental. One of my major goals with the comic is to have the setting convey the atmosphere of the redwood forests. I want the setting to be almost a character itself.Pacifica is very much inspired by growing up near the redwoods and spending many hours wandering them. The area has a very specific feeling and magic to it that I want to communicate in the stories. It’s hard not to feel a sense of wonder and mystery in these towering woods. Fairy tales and fantasy readily spring to mind as you wander here. It’s something that’s hard to do justice in pictures, but I hope that I capture some fraction of the awe these forests inspire.
