Pacifica Comic Update April 2024: Humboldt Hobby-Con, Inkverse

Welcome, all, to the April 2024 update for Pacifica!

New comic page for the free site:

Birds of a Feather, Page 12

If you need to catch up on previous pages you can do that here.

Events

I have updated the Events page with Humboldt Hobby-Con which I will hopefully be attending in August. It sounds like it will be a great event at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Eureka with many local crafters.

Webhosting

Last time I talked about needing to get my web hosting renewed and thanks to the help of fans who made donations to my Ko-fi and Patreon the sites are now paid for and will be up for at least the next two years. Thank you to everyone who helped out so that I can continue to follow my dream! Said fans on both sites have access to the next six pages of the comic, sketches, concept art, photography, and other bonuses. Check it out at the links above.

YouTube Guest and Inkverse

Yesterday evening I chatted for a bit with a couple streamers about Pacifica and comics in general.  Watch, their show here.

During that interview I mention a new comic reading app called Inkverse that I hope to put Pacifica on at some point. If you’d like to find out more about that app here. It’s in the early stages and is being worked on by a small team, but I really like what they’ve put together so far and how devoted to comic creators they seem to be. There is a video on YouTube that the devs live-streamed about what they hope to accomplish with the project.

And that covers all the news I have for this month. Thanks again for checking out my work and I hope to see you at local events or back here again next month!

Pacifica Comic Update March 2024 – Hosting Issues and More

Hey, everyone!

Welcome to the March update for Pacifica.

I’ve been having some problems with the website and mailing list. I think I have the mailing list worked out, but I still need some help with one of the other issues.

Web Hosting Woes!

My web hosting will renew in a couple days, but I cannot pay it. My websites pacificacomic.com and discovercomics.com as well as my email through those domains will go down which will cause me a bunch of headaches. I am currently filing for disability, but will not get a decision for at least a couple more months. I appreciate any help, I use these sites to promote myself and others. If you’d like to help out and get some art rewards in return then please check out my Ko-fi or Patreon. You can get access to more of my art and sketches as well as an invite to my Discord server. At last check I’m about 23% away from keeping the sites and email up and running. Thanks!

New Comic Page!

In other news, a new page of Birds of a Feather went up which you can read here. If you’d like to read further ahead that is another bonus for Ko-fi and Patreon members. Join the club and you can read six months ahead of the free site in the story.

Events!

I also updated the Events page with upcoming appearances. For the time being these are just appearances at the Redwood Flea Market, but I will be looking for other local events to add as well.

I mentioned a local comic con being put together in the last update. I got in contact with one of the organizers a couple days ago and that is still in the works, but looks like it will be pushed back to June. Fingers crossed that it all comes together. Putting together meet-ups and events is quite the challenge and I would really like for local comic creators to have more of a presence.

Web hosting issues aside, 2024 seems to be trending upwards and I hope you’re all having a better year as well. I look forward to meeting other comic creators and fans as the year progresses. As always, thank you for checking out my work and showing an interest in Pacifica!

Pacifica Comic Update for January 2024

Hello, everyone!

Happy New Year! Thank you all for supporting Pacifica in 2023. 2024 will be my eighth year of creating and posting Pacifica on www.pacificacomic.com! Many exciting things will be happening.

First of all, I have been invited along with some other local comic creators, Liz Valasco, Peter Hoey, and Solomon Clark, to help in planning a comic con for local creators! Things are in the early planning stages right now, but I’m told the target is sometime around May, so keep watching for more info on that. This is something I’ve been wanting to happen for a while! Please take the time to check out these other talented Humboldt County comic creators.

The second book of Pacifica, which was delayed due to many issues, is on track to be completed this year! Birds of a Feather will pick up where the last issue ended and introduce us to two new characters, Gale and Zephyr, who are two traveling jay-folk who happen upon the injured woodsman Gavin. Along with the new faces come new troubles. What are they? Well, you’ll just have to read the story to find out. You can start on that right here!

The Events page has been updated with appearances for the next three months and will be updated as more events are scheduled. If you want to meet the creator of the comic and get some signed books or other items then take a look at that page.

In addition to my art I also sell postcards with my photography from around Humboldt at local events. My Patreon and Ko-fi supporters can view larger previews of my current and new designs as well as the original shots I used to create them. I’m working on getting those into local shops as I’ve been told it’s hard to find Humboldt County branded postcards. Patreon and Ko-fi supporters get additional perks as well: early access to new pages, concept art, prose, and behind the scenes peeks for just $3. The support on these platforms helps me continue making the comic and new postcards.

Once again, thank you for supporting Pacifica! I love sharing the beauty and wonder of nature wrapped up in a fantasy adventure. See you in the next update!

Site Update! – Revised Comic Pages, Upcoming Events, New Stickers!

Hey, everyone!

Life has been pretty crazy lately. That’s nothing new, but here’s what is:

Today I’ve started overhauling the Birds of a Feather pages here on the site, replacing the old versions of the comic with the new ones that will be in the upcoming book! Here’s the newest page to be uploaded:

Pacifica, Birds of a Feather, Page 10 - Rude Awakenings 1

If you need to catch up with the earlier pages you can head over to this page and read from the beginning! If you’d like to follow the Kickstarter campaign to be notified when you can grab a physical copy of the next book please follow this link.

In other news, I recently got these new stickers of my characters Gale and Diana! We met Diana in the first Pacifica book: Finding a Path. She’s a mysterious mountain woman who grew up with Gavin and may have special abilities. Gale and her brother Zephyr are introduced in the beginning of book two: Birds of a Feather. Gale is a jay folk monk who is skilled in aerial martial arts and is initially wary of Gavin.

New Pacifica Stickers of Gale and Diana!

These new stickers will be available to purchase at local events and during the book two Kickstarter. I do not have a final date set for the campaign yet as the book still needs work before it’s finished, but you’ll hear about it in the news letter and on social media.

If you’d like to support the creation of Pacifica and its world, please check out my Patreon or Ko-fi pages where you can get access to supporter content like behind the scenes peeks, previews, and short stories!

As always, thanks for following Pacifica! Your support means a lot to me and allows me to follow my dreams. I’ll catch you all next time.
